I don't know about you, but I absolutely love the flavor combination of chocolate and orange. Here is a recipe that is sure to satisfy! Enjoy!
1 1/2 sticks of butter, room temp
1 3/4 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
zest of 2 oranges
1/8 tsp salt or more to taste
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 drops of orange emulsion-optional
heaping 1/4 cupful of mini chocolate chips, your choice
(no perfection needed)
Zest your oranges & set aside
Cream butter and sugar together
Add zest, salt. vanilla & orange emulsion if using
Add flour - if the dough is too dry, add a couple more tbsp's of butter & a couple drops of water.
Once the dough comes together add your chocolate chips.
Now roll the dough into a log approx 2 1/2". Wrap dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
When the dough has chilled remove it from the fridge. Slice dough into 1/2" slices.
Place on lightly greased cookie sheet and freeze for 10 mins. The good news, I have a big freezer. The bad news, it's in the basement. First world problems! You can also roll the dough out and use cookie cutters. I am making these for us so they don't need to be fancy.
Preheat your oven to 350. Remove cookie sheet from freezer & place in preheated oven. Bake for 20-25 mins or until bottoms are lightly browned. Your house will smell amazing!
Remove from oven and cool completely.
MMMMMM! Crunchy, sweet, buttery, citrus chocolate delights!
Make a pot of coffee and enjoy these with your friends and family.
Give some to the neighbors. What a wonderful way to bless someone!
